My intention is that this website complies with all laws and regulations that apply to it, that it does not violate the rights of any person, and that it does not mislead anyone.  Some further particulars are set out below, most of which seem to be in line with common sense.

2. Admission:

I am a US Attorney at Law admitted in New York, Illinois and the District of Columbia. The bar authorities governing my admissions are the Third Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, and the District of Columbia Bar, respectively.

I am not admitted as a German attorney (Rechtsanwalt) in the Federal Republic of Germany.

I am, however, a member of the Bar of Frankfurt am Main (Rechtsanwaltskammer) Frankfurt am Main) as a registered US Attorney at Law under § 206 of the German Federal Attorney Regulation (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung or BRAO) and, as such, entitled to practice US law and international public law in Germany. The Bar of Frankfurt am Main is the bar authority governing my right to so practice in Germany.

3. Professional Rules:

I am subject to the professional regulations of each jurisdiction in which I am admitted or registered, i.e., the professional regulations of New York, Illinois, the District of Columbia and Germany.

The Lawyer’s Code of Responsibility applies in New York. It may be accessed via the website of the New York Bar Association.

The Rules Governing the Legal Profession and Judiciary in Illinois, the Rules on Admission and Discipline of Attorneys , the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Rules of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission apply in Illinois . These may be accessed via the website of the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois.

The District of Columbia Rules of Professional Conduct apply in the District of Columbia. They may be accessed via the website of the District of Columbia Bar.

As a member of the Bar of Frankfurt am Main, I am subject to many of the same professional regulatory provisions as are German attorneys, sometimes by analogous application.  Section § 207 BRAO sets out the relevant regulations which apply to me as registered foreign attorney.  These professional rules are available for review at the Bar of Frankfurt am Main and are also available on its website.

2. Zulassungen

Meine gesetzliche Berufsbezeichnung „Attorney at Law“ ist mir von den Bundesstaaten New York, Illinois sowie von dem District of Columbia, USA verliehen worden. Ein „Attorney at Law“ in den USA entspricht ziemlich gut einem Rechtanwalt in Deutschland.  Die jeweiligen beruflichen Aufsichtsbehörden sind die Third Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, die Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, und das District of Columbia Bar.

Ich bin nicht als deutscher Rechtsanwalt in Deutschland zugelassen.  Ich bin aber Mitglied der Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main und nach § 206 der Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO) berechtigt, mich unter der Berufsbezeichnung Attorney at Law zur Rechtsbesorgung im US-amerikanischen Recht und im Völkerrecht in Deutschland  niederzulassen.  Die Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main ist hierfür die zuständige Aufsichtbehörde.

3. Berufsrechtliche Regelungen

Ich unterstehe den berufsrechtlichen Regelungen jeden staatlichen Gebiets, das mir eine Zulassung erteilt.  Das sind die berufsrechtlichen Regelungen von New York, Illinois, dem District of Columbia und Deutschland.

In New York gilt das Lawyer’s Code of Responsibility.   Dieses kann bei der zuständigen Behörde und auch auf der Webseite der New York Bar Association eingesehen werden.

In Illinois gelten die Rules Governing the Legal Profession and Judiciary in Illinois, Rules on Admission and Discipline of Attorneys, Rules of Professional Conduct, und Rules of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. Diese können bei der zuständigen Behörde und auch auf ihrer Webseite eingesehen werden.

In dem District of Columbia gelten die Rules of Professional Conduct. Dieses kann bei der zuständigen Behörde und auch auf ihrer Webseite eingesehen werden.

Als Mitglied der Rechtsanwaltskammer Frankfurt am Main unterstehe ich vielen derselben berufsrechtlichen Regelungen wie deutsche Anwälte, teilweise durch analoge Anwendung.  Die einschlägigen berufsrechtlichen Regelungen, denen ich unterstehe, werden in § 207 BRAO aufgelistet. Diese können bei der zuständigen Behörde und auch auf ihrer Webseite eingesehen werden.
